About Us

History

Foxley Road Nurseries was established in 1948 by Michael’s father, Bob Hinwood, as a market garden, producing vegetables which were sent to wholesale markets in Birmingham and Bristol. As the greenhouses were added, he was able to produce protected salad crops including tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuces. Bob and his wife Joan had a vegetable round, delivering to many of the local villages. Later, as growing vegetables became less profitable, Bob gradually changed to growing chrysanthemums and later bedding plants, geraniums, etc.
Michael took on the nurseries in 1987, when his father reached retirement. He ran the nurseries alongside his new landscaping and garden maintenance business. Michael’s wife Carol became a partner in the business in 1989 and together they have developed the nurseries into a thriving retail nursery.

Now

Foxley Road Nurseries now grows an extensive range of bedding and patio plants. We also grow a good selection of vegetable plants (including over 20 varieties of tomatoes), herb plants, herbaceous perennials and shrubs. There is a small indoor shop area stocking seeds and essential garden sundries and a range of composts outside.

If you have never ventured along the Foxley Road, why not pay us a visit!
